Lanthanum persulphide, La₂S₄

Lanthanum persulphide, La₂S₄, is prepared by heating lanthanum sulphate to 580°-600° in hydrogen sulphide, and resembles the corresponding cerium compound in properties, decomposing into the sesquisulphide and sulphur at 650°.
